FAQS

What Materials Do You Use?

Painting commissions are created on high-quality stretched artist canvas that looks good unframed but can also be framed. I also use artist quality paints and a satin varnish to protect the painting, although acrylic paint is very durable.

How Long Does Each Pet Portrait Take?

I paint by eye and most paintings take a minimum of 10-12 hours to paint. I prefer to have at least around 5 weeks to complete the painting as it needs to dry before being varnished with 3 coats. If you have a particular date that you would like your painting, let me know and ideally give me plenty of notice.

What Size Will the Portrait Be?

The listing is for a 10×12 or 12×12 inch stretched canvas but could be larger.

How Much Are Pet Commissions?

The cost is from £175 for an acrylic. If you would like more than one pet in the painting there will be an extra cost please email me for details.

What Do You Need to Start the Commission?

Please supply at least one good quality photo of the face with good lighting. The better the photo is, the better the painting will turn out! Some extra photos might help me to capture the animal’s personality. Let me know if you would like a certain colour background or anything specific. Particular backgrounds or full body command an extra cost. A non-refundable 50% deposit is required before commencing a painting. When I have finished, I will send you an image for your approval before posting. All commissions are sent by special delivery for next day arrival. Please note – I am selling the original work only, not the copyright to the image, which I retain.
